What is Keratoconus?
Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease in which the normal regular shape cornea begins to thin and to bulge into a cone-like shape, which makes the cornea irregular and causes distortion of the light passing the cornea to the sensitive retina.
Corneal Cross Linking (CCL)
As Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease the most important part of the treatment plan is to stop the progression of the disease.
Corneal cross linking is a minimally invasive procedure that uses ultraviolet light and eye drops in order to strengthen the collagen fibers in the cornea to stop the progression.
After stabilizing the cornea and stopping the progression of Keratoconus, we aim to correct the vision for the Keratoconus patient by the latest and most effective procedures that we provide at Sharif Eye Centers.
